Advocates Jail Diversion Program Training Model
At Advocates, clinicians complete specialized training models designed to prepare them for police-embedded behavioral health response. Training focuses on crisis assessment, field safety, documentation, consultation, and effective collaboration with law enforcement.
Specialized Training for Co-Response Clinicians
Our six-week specialized training for co-response clinicians is a structured and phased training approach that helps prepare clinicians for the unique demands of police-embedded behavioral health work. To support consistency, quality, and preparedness across all JDP co-response programs, this training model includes a combination of agency orientation, co-response administrative training, field observation, supervised practice, and gradual transition into independent role execution. With an emphasis on clinical readiness, operational confidence, and safety, our specialized training will help ensure co-response clinicians form effective partnership within a police department.
Specialized Training for Post-Response Clinicians
Our specialized training for Advocates post-response staff provides a structured approach to preparing team members for effective post-response outreach and community engagement. Training includes agency orientation, administrative procedures, documentation standards, confidentiality requirements, safety protocols, individualized supervision, and role shadowing. With an emphasis on person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented practices, staff develop skills in relationship building, motivational interviewing, care coordination, systems navigation, family engagement, and warm handoffs. This training helps ensure staff are prepared to collaborate effectively with individuals, families, police departments, co-response clinicians, and community providers.
