Deaf Services

We believe the best way to serve Deaf people with disabilities is to honor the culture and values of the Deaf community. Through our philosophy, The Advocates Way, we strive to practice empathy and common ground in our work, which is why we support Deaf people with Deaf staff as often as possible.

Deaf Respite

The first and only of its kind in the United States, Advocates Deaf Respite program is a place where Deaf people receive short-term crisis services in an environment that predominately uses American Sign Language (ASL). We’ve seen first-hand how communicating with ASL creates a more inclusive, welcoming, and nurturing environment for Deaf adults receiving supports through Deaf Respite.

Careers at Advocates

At Advocates, we’re always looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. We’re currently hiring for several roles that require fluency in American Sign Language, because we want to speak the language of the people we serve. If you are fluent in ASL, consider applying to work within Deaf Services, Deaf Respite, or any of our open positions.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SERVICES

Deaf adults must be referred by the Department of Mental Health or another state agency to participate in Advocates Deaf Services. Private pay opportunities are also available. If you have questions about eligibility or would like to learn more about our Deaf Services, please contact our staff directly.
