On Thursday, November 13, more than 330 community members attended Advocates' annual gala. The event, which was held at The Westin Waltham, featured a 1970s theme to mark Advocates' fiftieth anniversary. NBC10 Boston news anchor Raul Martinez returned as event emcee for the third year in a row.
Highlights of the celebratory evening included a special citation presented by Senate President Karen Spilka, as well as a museum exhibit showcasing five decades of Advocates history. Long-time Advocates community member Michael was presented with Advocates 50th Anniversary Human Rights Award, and guests were able to view a special video sharing his remarkable story.
Thanks to generous sponsorships, donations, and auction bids, the event raised more than $280,000 in support of Advocates' full range of programs, which each year serve more than 45,000 people in communities across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
