Every year since 2009, families caring for a loved one at home have received grants to help make caregiving a little easier, thanks to the Fred Gaspari Fund for Families.
In 2019, Advocates received 72 grant applications from a variety of caregivers. Though available funds are limited, 15 of the 72 families received grants, totaling more than $7,100.
Families who received this year’s grants will use the funds in many ways, including for hippotherapy lessons, to purchase sensory items, to make home safety modifications, and much more.
"It feels so rewarding to be able to offer these grants to caregivers on an annual basis. Thanks to donors in the community, this grant is possible for those in need,” says Travis Flanders-Caraballo, Advocates Family Support Specialist.
