Hopkinton resident Molly Niland, a senior direct care counselor at Advocates, which provides services to individuals facing life challenges, received the Stephanie Moulton Memorial Award from the Department of Mental Health in recognition of her work with women in mental health recovery.

The award recognizes a human services employee who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, energy and enthusiasm toward work assisting individuals with serious mental illness in their recovery in community-based settings. Niland, who joined Advocates in 2014, was honored during the fourth annual Stephanie Moulton Symposium at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston.

“It was an honor to be considered for such a meaningful award,” said Niland. “I am a strong believer that smiles, kindness and empathy can go a long way, and I encourage anyone who agrees with me to explore working or volunteering in human services. Every day, I feel lucky to work with the individuals whom I serve, and I look forward to a lifetime of being involved in this type of work.”
